Dear  Editors,

Please find attached the revised submission of:

"The Journey Is the Theory: The Emergence of Human Buffering Through Navigating Conflicting Practices in a South African University of Technology (2004-2024)". 

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the reviewers and editorial team for their detailed, constructive and supportive feedback. The comments provided valuable guidance in strengthening both the manuscript and my understanding of Living Educational Theory Research. The review process has been an important scholarly learning experience.

In response to the reviewers' recommendations, substantial revisions have been undertaken. These include:

  1. restructuring the manuscript to improve the flow and development of the argument;
  2. introducing a dedicated "Journey of Inquiry" section to make visible the twenty-year developmental process through which Human Buffering emerged; 
  3. expanding the literature review and discussion to strengthen the positioning of Human Buffering within relevant scholarship;
  4. incorporating direct examples and critical incidents from practice;
  5. adding a comprehensive "Validation and Educational Influence" section that draws on student feedback, graduate reflections, quantitative evidence, community engagement outcomes, institutional recognition and scholarly engagement; and 
  6. refining the conceptualisation and presentation of Human Buffering as a practitioner-generated explanatory framework. 

    For ease of review, I have attached: 

    1. A completed reviewer response rubric detailing how reviewer comments were addressed;
    2. A clean revised manuscript; and
    3. A version showing tracked changes.

    I am grateful for the opportunity to revise the manuscript and respectfully submit it for further consideration.
