There are three stages in the process leading to publication in EJOLTs:
- Double-blind Review (stage 1). Testing
- Open Review (stage 2)
- Editorial Board Review for the final decision to publish. (stage 3)

Open Review Space
-
- The Editor invites the author to use the feedback from the double-blind review stage to revise their paper. They then upload to the Open Review Space to start the conversation thread for the reviewers to help them meet all publishing criteria well.
- The two or three reviewers allocated to help the author strengthen their paper respond through the dialogue in the Open Review Space.
- The reviewers and the author engage in dialogue using the Publishing Standards Checklist (see http://ejolts.net/draft-publishing-checklist) to keep them focussed on strenghtening the paper so it meets all publishing criteria well.
- The author amends the paper using reviewers' advice and uploads the revised version to the review space for further scrutiny and comment, together with the notes on the rubric showing their response to the reviewer's advice.
- All participants receive email alerts for the latest posting in the thread to the Open Review Space.
- Cycles of re-drafting and discussion continue to the point where the all reviewers recommend that the paper is ready for sending to the Editorial Board who will make the final decision whether it is ready for publication (Stage 3).
